The four applications that originally made up CTOS were complex, overcrowded with controls and relied entirely on recall for users to know how to use them. The applications included a large manual that described how certain features were to be used. The challenge was to bring the CTOS suite under one design umbrella, redesign the workflows and simplify the presentation of data so that users could recognize how to do certain tasks.
We carried out several brainstorming sessions with stakeholders and users, conducted user research, recorded existing workflows on video, analyzed all of the gathered data and in the end proposed the redesign as the path forward for the application.
Among the proposals was a new UX flow, a new modular layout, and a new presentation of data via dashboards and data grids.
Our work was highly regarded as the solution modernized and revitalized the suite of applications, making it more effective and much easier to use.
